First-flush stormwater spillways are key stormwater treatment devices that provide effective management of stormwater runoff by separating first-flush stormwater, which is more polluted, from later-flush stormwater. These systems allow wastewater to be disposed of by natural infiltration into the ground, without endangering underground aquifers, and ensure that the first rainwater is properly conveyed to the sewer system or wastewater treatment plants.
